Steel Bridge Competition

To DONOR NAME:
As part of the 2004 Deep South Regional ASCE Conference, the ASU ASCE chapter will be participating in the Steel Bridge Competition. This will be the fourth consecutive attempt in the competition since 2000.
The competition consists of the design and construction speed of a scaled down steel bridge model. The bridge will be loaded with 1 † tons of weight. The competition scoring is based upon minimizing these following variables:
    • Bridge weight
    • Bridge deflection after loading
    • Construction team size
    • Construction time.
ASCE hopes to place well in the competition, but we need your help. Steel Bridges are very expensive to build and when combined with the Concrete Canoe Competition, the cost becomes extremely difficult to burden.

Attached is an itemized budget outlining the various materials used in the construction of the steel bridge. Any assistance, by means of material or monetary donations, would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Hopefully with your help ASCE will be able to represent ASU well, and continue a winning tradition in Northeast Arkansas.

Sincerely,
Michael Rebick
