EE 3401 Electronics I Laboratory     EXPERIMENT 2     Circuit Simulation      Spring 2005

Objectives:

To learn how to use an electronic circuit simulator program such as MICRO-CAP.

Learn to draw and edit a circuit.
Learn to use ac analysis to find the frequency response of a circuit.
Learn to use transient analysis to find the transient response and amplitude limitations of a circuit.
Learn how to use Monte Carlo analysis to obtain statistical information about the variations of the circuit characteristic with variations in the component characteristics.

Equipment:

1 computer with Micro-Cap installed.

Reference and Procedure:

Questions:

1.    How do you select a component type to place into your circuit?

2.    How can you edit the values of a circuit component after it has been placed in the circuit?

3.    How can you delete a component?

4.    What information about your circuit do you need before running ac analysis or transient analysis?

5.    What limits may have to be changed in the ac analysis limits window?

6.    What limits may have to be changed in the transient analysis limits window?

7.    What kind of information can you obtain about your circuit from ac analysis?

8.    What kind of information can you obtain about your circuit from transient analysis?

9.    What kind of information can you obtain from the circuit drawing window, after you return from one of the analysis runs?
