College of Engineering Network Information

The College of Engineering has two primary network servers:

ENGRSRV   – This is a Windows 2003 server.  This server is used for SolidWorks, Cosmos, STAAD, Flowlab, Bentley, Abaqus, and MatLab licensing, FTP site hosting, and our file shares.  It also serves as a secondary print server.

Student File Shares = ENGR_D, which is mapped in locally as drive K: on the lab computers.  This is a collaborative share for students and faculty.

Faculty File Shares =  PROFILES\$USERNAME$, which is mapped locally for faculty/staff as drive I: on faculty/staff PC’s.  This file share is private to each faculty/staff member.

=  ENGFAC, which is mapped locally for faculty/staff as drive J: on faculty/staff PC’s.  This share is collaborative among faculty/staff in the College of Engineering

ENGRSRV2 – This is also a Windows 2003 server.  This server is used for Symantec Ghost tools and as a primary print server.

Server1 is housed in ITS’ server farm.  Server 2 is housed in Lab Science West 152.

The ENGRSRV server has all drive shares accessible via FTP (file transfer protocol) so that you can upload or download files from a remote computer via the Internet.  To access a file, simply point your web browser to:

                        ftp://engrsrv.astate.edu/students  OR ftp://engrsrv.astate.edu/faculty

Enter your ASU username and password when prompted.

NOTE: Your username should be entered as --    STUDENT\username (for students) or ASTATE\username (for faculty/staff)

If you use an older web browser you may not be able to upload to the share.  In this case, to upload a file from home to the server, you need an FTP client, such as FileZilla.  This can be downloaded from:      http://its.astate.edu/content/softwaredownloads .  Install the software on your home pc.  Simply put in the ftp://engrsrv.astate.edu/student for the address, your username and password (remove the anonymous login checkbox) and connect.  You can transfer files by selecting the file on the left view pane (your computer), and clicking on the arrow to the folder on the right view pane (the remote computer).

The College of Engineering has 1 student computer lab/lounge located in Lab Science West 234.  This lab contains 18 PC’s, 1 Color LaserJet Printer, 2 B/W LaserJet Printers, and 1 Color InkJet Printer/Scanner/Copier.  The lab is always open during normal University hours.
